Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I have so many things to be thankful for everyday but mostly today I am thankful for family and friends.  God gives us so many undeserved blessings, I praise Him for the ultimate blessing, His Son.

We did not host Thanksgiving this year but I just wanted to share my breakfast table.

Faux Granite Countertops

For years I have been perfectly happy with my beige formica countertops but for the past several years I have secretly lusted for granite! It wasn't until recently my oldest daughter, Mallary, suggested that one of my future projects may need to include a countertop redo. So, I did what most people do these days and googled. After watching mannnnyyyyy videos I decided to go with this technique found here. You base coat with countertop paint and layer different colors on top of that. The colors I used did make my kitchen darker so I am going to go with bright curtains to hopefully lighten it up a bit. I plan to post a tutorial in the near future of the colors, steps, etc. I did but, for now, I am resting and enjoying my "new" look in my kitchen.

Reorganizing My Closet

I am so ashamed to show this, it is literally is airing laundry but this is what I have been looking at for months when I am soaking in the whirlpool!  And yes, I could close the door but no, that is never the case:)  Who could relax ???? So finally one Saturday I decided to stay home from the Mississippi State vs Alabama game(thought it was going to be a waxing and we really played well) and spent 3/4 of the day on this.  I removed the summer items.  

After many years of hauling the large tubs out of the attic, I started  keeping my off season clothes in the space bags over a year ago and love them!!  They are great to put under the bed or in the top of your closet.

After waiting patiently(ha ha) for several weeks and stepping over the drill in the closet, my husband hung the rod for me.  Even though I straightened the shelves, I wanted this shower curtain to cover them so that when they are not perfect, like I am afraid that they will be in a matter of weeks, I will not have to look at them!

About a year ago I started purchasing wood hangers, mistake, mistake, mistake!  They are great if you have a huge closet but I needed more room.(Shameful shameful at the amount of clothes I possess and this is AFTER I culled out.  I went to Ross, TJMaxx and bought the thin felt hangers and hung my dresses with them.  Let me just say that I am a believer now!!!! They freed up soooooo much space!!  I have also been grouping my tops, blouses and pants by color.  You would not believe how much time you save looking for the "perfect" outfit for the day.  As you can tell I do not have my dresses grouped by color.  Hope to add more as the budget allows.

Hope this helps someone with small closet space.  The other side is for my husband's clothes and he promises to "tackle" them after football season.

Shadowlawn Bed and Breakfast

This weekend we traveled to Columbus, Mississippi and stayed at  Shadowlawn, a bed and breakfast that was wonderful. I had to take pictures with my phone because, yes, I forgot my camera:(. AND, I did not get a front picture of this lovely Greek Revival home, so I took this from their website here. Isn't it beautiful?

We stayed in the Fleur de Lis Room. This place is decorated with gorgeous antiques.

Looooovve this chest of drawers. I asked the owner if they had any type of process done on them and she said it was simply aging.

There is so much history in this town and home.  As always I wish that my pictures did this beautiful home justice so you are just going to have to check it out for yourself! Would have taken more but we had to hurry off to see our bulldawgs play.

Black&White Pumpkins

Saw these with tutorial here and was not satisfied until I went to Dollar Tree to get the supplies. They were out of pumpkins :( so I had to pay $5.00 each at Walmart for the pumpkins. I had never worked with Modge Podge but loooovvvve that stuff! I could have gotten them much smoother but I LIKE the wrinkles, I am weird that way. My friend Monica provided the Spanish moss that her husband confiscated from deer camp, would love to have live oaks draped with the moss in my front yard!
